8 beautiful hotels
I’ve gone full wanderlust this week with a round up of hotels that I’m taking a virtual vacay to. Join me?
All this sunshine has got me thinking about summer and holidays and the thrill of being somewhere else.
You’ve a glass of charmingly local rosé in hand, one wafty dress is all it took to be ready for the day and there’s the joy of knowing a big body of water stands between you and the washing machine.
I’ve gone full wanderlust this week with a round up of jaw dropping, wallet busting hotels that I’m taking a virtual vacay to.
Join me?
Before you start, I bless you with the following things for this daydream: cost is no object, there’ll be no queuing to board your plane and you absolutely will be greeted with a glorious sunset and a glass of something cold when you arrive.
Hôtel du Couvert, Nice
I’d like to start the day with a coffee on the balcony at Hôtel du Couvert. There’s something so soft, even monastic about this room. It’s got a tactility that many luxe hotels seem to miss the mark on in the pursuit of one flat, glossy aesthetic. That low stripe of ochre is inspired, very grounding.
Le Mas Candille, Cote D’Azure
A post brekkie dip in the pool seems essential and although the interiors aren’t for me, this tomato red and hazelnut poolside combo at Le Mas Candille gets a 10.0. No notes.
Pug Seal, Zapoteco, Oaxaca City
A gentle bit of culture next with a trip to Mexico to see the mural work of artist Rafael Uriegas in his recently completed boutique hotel. There’s a rawness to the rooms that is quite the palette cleanser; I couldn’t live with this aesthetic but that’s the point of travel isn’t it.
Il Delfino Seaside Inn, New South Wales, Australia
Down under we go to Il Delfino. I think reading by the water is in order to work up an appetite for lunch. For those of you who love neutrals, here’s further evidence for why walls and ceilings look good in the same colour.
Nolinski, Venice
Lunchtime! It feels imperative to eat sat in these lovely gold ball adorned chairs at Nolinski. In fact, all of their communal areas are superb and the bedrooms are extremely well appointed so I may take a siesta.
Gundari Resort, Folegandros Island, Greece
Perhaps another session by the pool in the afternoon. This one will do nicely:
Fasano Boa Vista, São Paulo
A glass of something on either of these terraces at Fasano’s Boa Vista resort gets the evening off to a suitably glorious start. It’s entirely possible I’ve found myself inside a Bond film with this architecture so if it must be a martini, so be it.
Anzan Atitlan, Guatemala
I think dinner with this astonishing view and soft, evening light would be hard to beat. Beyond the table, I don’t think they needed to decorate. The hard work is done by the outside; I find the other bits and bobs distracting. All things considered, I guess I’ll let them off haha…particularly given this perfect colour choice for the exterior. Chef’s kiss.
And that’s that.
Happy (virtual) travels,
S
